Meet the Crew: The team behind bart & bel
Life onboard Nimrod is all about teamwork—both at sea and in business. Bart is our skipper and sales expert, always steering us in the right direction. Bel is our navigator and digital strategist, making sure everything runs smoothly both online and on the water. And of course, Nimrod is more than just a boat—she’s our home, our office, and the vessel that makes this adventure possible.

🚀 From Land to Sea – Our Story
We weren’t always sailors, digital nomads, or business owners. Our journey started in two very different places—Bart, a lifelong sailor with a passion for sales, and Bel, a true landlubber who never imagined she’d call a boat her home. But one decision changed everything:
🌍 Why not trade the 9-to-5 for a life of freedom and adventure on the water?

⛵ Two Different Paths, One Big Adventure
Bart grew up sailing the Frisian lakes from the age of four. He became a sailing instructor, crossed the Atlantic, and later built a successful career in sales and account management. But after years in the corporate world, what he truly wanted was to set sail and see what comes next. Now he ensures that Nimrod is in tip top shape and generates leads on the side.
Bel’s story looked very different. She spent years on hockey fields, studied Communications in the States, and built expertise in marketing, SEO, and web design. Sailing wasn’t part of the plan—until she met Bart. When he shared his dream of traveling the world by boat, she said, “Why not?”
And just like that, we bought our Nimrod, a rare Sparkman & Stephens 42, and set sail.
💻 How Sailing Led to Our Business
Living at sea teaches you a lot—adaptability, problem-solving, and the power of working remotely. Before we set sail we talked a lot about starting our own business. But where to start? A couple of months into our journey, we realized we already have the skills that we can turn into a business that supports our lifestyle.
✅ Bart helps businesses grow through lead generation & sales.
✅ Bel builds websites & optimizes SEO, helping brands stand out online.
✅ We work from wherever we drop anchor—a quiet bay, a bustling port, or somewhere in between.

⚡ What’s Next?
We don’t have a fixed route—just a direction. More sailing, more exploring, and helping businesses thrive along the way. Where exactly we will go next? No clue! What our next assignments will be? We will figure it out. All we know is that we love our life at the moment and love to help you out with our skills.

F.A.Q.
Some questions we get asked a lot
We are mostly dependent on the weather. Based on the wind we will either be sailing to our next anchorage or we are already tucked into a nice bay. We try to balance our work and travel life by spending about 2 to 3 days a week on work.
We actually have a couple and don’t really know yet which ones we will end up sailing too. At the moment we are excited to go to the Italian and Greek islands. Another one is still crossing the Atlantic Ocean and looking up Bel’s roots in Suriname.
We begin with a consultation to understand your brand and goals, followed by a proposal outlining the project scope, timeline, and costs.
Bart was literally put into a small boat at 4 years old and has never stopped sailing ever since. Bel had been in sailboat before she met Bart. However, Bart has really dragged her into it.
Our current location is updated regularly on our Contact page, showcasing our latest adventures.
We met each other through our student sailing organisation in Amsterdam in 2017.
